Support materials for approved centres delivering our Access to HE Diplomas.

These materials can be used by tutors and learners to help mitigate the challenges of remote and blended delivery. The documents can be used as a revision guide for learners to refer to following online classes or used by tutors to help support their delivery, reducing the time and burden on staff.

These materials can be used to support the delivery of a wide range of our Diplomas as many of our Diplomas share units. This will enable tutors to prepare and deliver to larger groups of learners rather than just within a single pathway.

I am amazed at the amount of support material available, especially for the Health Professions, they are absolutely fantastic and will really help with our Access to HE delivery. Many thanks to Gateway Qualifications and all those responsible.

How can these materials be used with Gateway Qualifications Access to HE Diplomas?

Many of our Diplomas share units, meaning the same unit appears in more than one Diploma.

These could be within subject area, for example, Health and Social Care, Nursing, Midwifery, or could be more generic study skills units and feature within a wide range of Diplomas.

Rules of combination for Access to HE (Health and Social Care), Access to HE (Health Professions), Access to HE (Nursing), and Access to HE (Nursing and Midwifery) are 100% covered (note: would be less if you chose optional units) but you could use these support materials for every single unit in order for a learner to complete those Diplomas.

At the moment, Access to HE (Science) has 85% of its units covered, and this is just the beginning of the work being put into this project to support both centres and learners.

See our Co-teaching across Diplomas graphic which shows how 3 different cohorts from Health and Social Care, Nursing and Midwifery, and Business Management share units. The shared units could be delivered to a wider audience, such as in an online lecture, instead of sticking to teaching in subject groups only. This enables for economies of delivery, reducing the burden of staff, delivering the same content to different groups of learners:

To support this efficient way of teaching, we are creating teaching materials for 53 of our highest usage Access to HE units. In the below table you can see where some of these units feature within 9 of our most popular diplomas, as an example. On a wider scope of the range of diplomas each document could support, the Preparation for Higher Education unit features in 46 of our Access to HE Diplomas:
